How much time will water be an unlimited resource for us if we continue wasting it? II WATER FOOTPRINT II Emma Rubín Tato

Reducing our water footprint should be one of our priorities.

Nowadays, we all have as much water as we need in our homes, but, how much time will water be an unlimited resource for us if we continue wasting it? Probably not a lot.

Relax, because this shouldn’t be a reason to freak out. It’s just that we have to be aware of our own water prints and take care to reduce them. There are some tips we all can start using right now in order to waste less water, like buying food that has been grown near you so the transport isn’t that long or having just two pairs of jeans instead of eight so thousands and thousands of liters of water are saved in growing the cotton. It might sound weird, but most of the water we waste everyday isn’t used in our homes, but in factories and farms from where we buy our stuff.  Maybe we all should take a moment to think if everything we buy each day is necessary, as it has a huge impact in our lives.

Anyway, I think progress is being made. New techniques and machines used in agriculture and animal breeding use less water each time, industry is working on polluting less water while producing things, and people’s starting to take consciousness about this problem. I believe that if we all work together, we’ll ensure our future.
